Quarter 3 sewing....
Mrs. Hubbard is no longer teaching at OMS. However, this site is still up as a resource to students and other teachers.
Welcome!
This blog is coming to you live from the O'Leary Cubs Family and Consumer Sciences classroom. It will give parents and students an idea of what is going on in FACS class, post links to cool information, and be a place to comment and ask questions.
This blog will also give out information about Mrs. Hubbard's 7th Grade Prime Time. Look for Prime Time just below and to the left to see what is going on there.

Sewing, Sewing, Sewing!
All grades spent the last week sewing. What creativity, teamwork, and perseverance I have seen in the classroom! I have taken a few photos but cannot get them off of phone and onto computer! Here are some from a yearbook camera - 7th grade aprons. Good work team!
What are they making?
6th - locker caddies
7th - aprons
8th - last week was creative sewing and they will get back to sewing in about a month with individual projects.

8th Power of One postponed
Well... communication is everything, correct 8th grade? Our Power of One projects are on hold until we have computer space. Probably until the 2nd week of October. There are great ideas a-foot however! Which is most exciting. Until then, 8th grade will be learning about communication and relationship (for all relationships, not just dating) skills.

8th Supplies
8th Grade Supplies were due Monday. Please bring in, if you have not already:
· 1-2 inch 3-ring binder
When students pick out their sewing projects, the cost of their projects will also need to be brought in. More information to follow on that later.

8th - Power of One
Today we discussed Power of One - A Better You in more detail. There are some GREAT personal improvement challenges and goals that will unfold in the next week and a half. We have students striving to be more organized, better money managers, skilled entrepreneurs, better babysitters, more engaged family members, and generous philanthropists. It is great! Can't wait to see how it all ends up.

8th - Power of One
Today we began talking about the Power of One in the 8th grade classes. Power of One is the idea that One person can do a lot of change in the world if he/she chooses. The students are going to work on their individual personal development (that is their own growing and changing), by choosing an something in their own lives to improve upon. A Better You is the name of the project and so far we already have some great ideas coming out of the wood work. A few students are very confused! But it will come together and be grand at the end!
